The Foreign Exchange (FX) Market is the single most liquid financial market in the world. Unlike traditional asset classes, which are almost exclusively traded in centralised exchanges, most FX instruments are traded Over-The-Counter (OTC), 24 hours a day, and 5.5 days a week. The average daily volume of FX has grown from $1.2 trillion in 2001 to $4 trillion in 2010 and to $6.6 trillion in 2019.
